'Bring laurels to the country'

Maharashtra sports minister Sunil Kedar has wished best luck to Maharshtra sportspersons who have been selected to represent India in Tokyo Olympics to be held from July 23 to September 5 in Japan. As many as eight players from Maharashtra have been selected and they are getting all kind of help including financial from State government.

According to Sunil Kedar these players will achieve the greater height in their respective games and will bring laurels to the country.

Those who have been selected include Kolhapur's Rahi Sarnobat (25 m pistol shooting), Kolhapur's Tejaswini Sawant (50 m rifle shooting), Beed's Avinash Sable (3000 m steeple chase). Satara's Pravin Jadhav (archery), Mumbai's Chirag Shetty (badminton doubles), Vishnu Srvanan of Mumbai (sailing), Swaroop Unhalkar of Kolhapur ( para shooting 10 m rifle) and Suyash Jadhav of ( Solapur paraswimmer).

Out of them, the State government has given direct appointment to Rahi Sarnobat as deputy collector. She is former player of Maharashtra government's non-residential Krida Prabodhini .

Tejaswini Sawant was appointed as special executive officer (deputy director level) in the sports department of the Maharashtra government. She is also the former player of non-residential Krida Prabodhini.

Athlete Avinash Sable has been working as Nayab Subhedar in Indian Army whereas archer Pravin Jadhav is too attached with Indian Army as Nayab Subhedar.

Shuttler Chirag Shetty is 'A' class officer at Indian Oil. Para Olympian Vishu Sarvanan is also the Nayak Subhedar at the Indian Army. Para swimmer Suyash Jadhav was appointed as 'A' grade coach at sports department of the state government.
