Nagpur, June 8

Petrol and diesel prices are rising day-by-day. On Monday, petrol was priced at `101.36 per liter and diesel at `92.03 per liter. If fuel prices continue to rise, diesel, like petrol, is likely to touch `100 next month.

Petrol had reached `100 on May 29. Power petrol is priced at `104.80 and turbo diesel at `95.29. Diesel price was `90.92 on May 31 and `92.03 on June 7. In one month, diesel price has gone up by `4.66 per liter. Rising petrol prices have disturbed the budget of general public, while rising diesel prices have hit buyers of luxury and expensive cars. Middle class buyers prefer low-cost cars.

The effect has been felt by the common man as well. In addition, rising freight rates are likely to make vegetables, grains, milk, groceries and daily necessities more expensive. Experts opine that the impact of the corona pandemic has diminished worldwide and the economy is opening up. Demand for petroleum products has increased. Therefore, the price of crude oil is increasing everyday. Petrol and diesel prices are rising in India for the same reasons. Central and state governments, on the other hand, are unlikely to offer tax breaks. The second wave of Corona has had an impact on the Indian economy. The government is compensating it through petrol and diesel taxes.
