Nagpur, May 6

The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court on Thursday transferred eight cases of Remdesivir black marketing to the Chief Magistrate’s court and directed that the cases be disposed of by May 31. The court has also appointed Jyoti Vajani as special government prosecutor, who has rich experience of criminal cases.

A PIL in this connection was heard by Justice duo Z A Haq and Amit Borkar. The Nagpur police have so far registered FIRs in 13 cases of Remdesivir black marketing.

Chargesheets were filed against the accused in eight of the cases in the First Class Magistrate's Court on May 3. They have also directed the police to complete the investigation of the remaining five cases within a week and directed that these cases should also be tried in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court.

Initially the case was being represented by assistant government prosecuter Tehseen Mirza, but when Adv Mirza expressed his inability to take charge due to his busy schedule, the case was handed over to Adv Vajani. The court also gave others instructions and dismissed the petition.
