District gets 50,000 vaccines

Due to the paucity of vaccines, the people above 45 years of age are facing difficulty, which has brought down the pace of vaccination in the district.

Nagpur has received a stock of 50,000 vaccines. This is expected to facilitate a second dose of vaccination for citizens over the age of 45 this week. Half of these vaccines will be used in rural areas.

According to the district administration, four tankers of oxygen from Angul in Odisha state will reach Nagpur by train late at night on Wednesday.

The district received 124 metric tonnes of oxygen on Tuesday. There is enough oxygen available in the city.

Around 2,973 Remdesivir injections were distributed in the district on Tuesday. The administration has claimed that the injections are being distributed to government and private hospital s as per the request.

Awareness in rural areas

The Nagpur district administration is making a concerted effort to give a booster dose of awareness to the villagers in the rural areas of the district that are lacking in facing corona.

Awareness is being spread across office bearers of various social organisations, activists, doctors practicing in the village, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, and focus is on vaccination of the youth in the village to reduce the number of positives cases. All the senior officers in the administration, all the tehsildars, all the group development officers are visiting villages.

Emphasis has been laid on three practices during the visit to villages. It includes a six-minute walking test to check the severity of corona infection, the necessary treatment for patients post corona, and guidance on how to protect children from the possible third wave.

Meeting of pediatricians

Meanwhile, the district administration on Tuesday held a meeting of pediatricians in Nagpur. Children are also likely to be infected with the corona in a possible third wave in the district. District collector Ravindra Thakare clarified that pediatricians should prepare guidelines to prevent corona infection in children in such cases.
