Goons stab neighbour to death

In an old enmity over the win and defeat of pigeon, two criminal brothers with the help of their father murdered neighbour by storming into latter’s house.

The incident that took place in Pandhrabodi complex under Ambazari police station area on Sunday night has created tension. The deceased is Ashok Naharkar (40) while the accused are Munna Mahto, his sons Ramu alias Chunni Mahto and Chetan Mahto.

Ashok Naharkar and his brother Dinesh Naharkar live near Sudarshan temple. The accused Mahto family is their neighbour. According to sources, about six months ago, Chetan and Ashok started a business of buying and selling of pigeon and pigeon betting . Many criminals of Pandhrabodi do the same business due to good profit. Later, the partnership was broken due to dispute over distribution of money. After that enmity began between them. On Sunday night at 10 pm, the accused came before Ashok’s house and started abusing Ashok’s nephew. Ashok’s brother Dinesh reached there to intervene into the matter. The accused beat up Ashok. The family member of Ashok took Ashok inside house.

But the accused did not stop here, they broke the door of Dinesh house. They started disputing there. In the meantime Ashok reached there. He tried to pacify the accused. The accused put Ashok on a sofa and stabbed him. Ashok sustained serious injury. He was taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead.

According to sources other associates of the accused were also involved in the incident but police did not arrest them. It created tension in Pandhrabodi. Residents alleges laxity of the police for the incident. It is learnt that Ramu Mahto was called in the Ambazari police station on Saturday. After returning from the police station, he committed the crime. There is a gang-war like atmosphere on the premises of Ambazari police station for pigeon trading and betting.

A month ago, 40 to 50 pigeons of a young man were killed by beheading at night. People associated with young man and pigeon business are searching for the accused. But this case is stuck due to no concrete result. Otherwise, there is a danger of killing the person who killed the pigeon in this case. Pandhrabodi is always in discussion for gang-war and its related killing. Police are also aware of this. Despite this, they did not take any precautionary steps. In the latest case, a case of murder has been registered and the accused have been arrested.

Officer busy in boasting

The citizens of Pandhrabodi are deeply hurt by the attitude of the police officer of Ambazari. They said that instead of listening to their problem-complaint, the officers are busy in boasting their own gossip. On many occasions, the complainant is threatened by giving advice.

In such a situation, no one wants to give information to the officer. The police personnel are also content with the attitude of the officers. This is the second murder case in 9 days.
