Salunke urges VCA to probe and dismiss ad-hoc committee

Nagpur, April 8

While alleging the injustice being done to the genuine Buldhana district players by the three member ad-hoc committee members , Chandrakant Salunke, the former secretary of Buldhana District Amateur Cricket Association (BDACA) Chandrakant Salunke has urged the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) to investigate the matter and dismiss ad-hoc committee immediately.

Salunke thru a letter (dated March 4, 2021) written to VCA secretary has leveled several serious allegations against VCA appointed ad-hoc committee in BDACA.

According to Salunke, in last few years the ad-hoc committee comprising former Ranji players Mohammad Sabir, Kishor Wakode and Rahul Jadhav deliberately ignored genuine district players and gave the opportunity to other district and state players in VCA recognised tournaments and camps. Salunke said while doing so the committee members have prepared bogus birth certificates and also helped the players in obtaining bogus Aadhar cards. He further alleged that there may be the possibility of illegal financial transactions between ad-hoc committee officials and players.

Salunke said, six outside Buldhana district players represented the district team, which is supported by Ad-hoc committee for Buldhana district in the last couple of years. They are Prashant Thakur (Mumbai), Madhwendrasing (Mumbai), Vishal Yadav, (Mumbai) ,Divanshusingh, (Mumbai) and Rohit Patel (Mumbai) and they belong to different states also.

Apart from them Ashraf Banthia (Khandwa), Prince Wadhwani (Burhanpur) Purshottam Khandebharad (Pune) , Rajat Bbhosale (Ambajogai), Pravin Kalyankar (Nanded) and one female cricketer Kshitija Natkar (Nashik) were allowed camp last time.

Salunke said the above players have not completed three years in our district. in spite of instructions from VCA,why such players were allowed to represent Buldhana district in the VCA tournaments ?, he questioned,

He also said such type of admissions by ad-hoc committee caused great loss to the genuine Buldhana district cricketers and the behavior of ad-hoc committee is totally against the Constitution of VCA.

In this regard when contacted VCA executive committee member Alhad Gokhale who looks after district associations he said, “ I don't have any idea about Salunke's letter to VCA secretary. Due to lockdown I have not visited the VCA office for the last several. Once the lockdown is lifted I will definitely look into the matter”, he said.

Ad-hoc committee member and former Ranji cricketer Mohammad Sabit has refuted all the charges and said the players were selected following all VCA guidelines. " The allegations are baseless. We have followed all VCA guidelines while selecting the players and now it is up to VCA to verify their documents", he said.
