Man murders wife suspecting infidelity

Nagpur, Feb 16

In a fit of anger, a labourer murdered his wife suspecting infidelity in Umiya industrial area, Pardi on Monday at around 11 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Markande, aged 21 and the accused husband has Lalit Samelala Markande aged 25. The Crime Branch arrested the husband within 12 hours of the incident from Umred.

The accused is a native of Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh and has been working with Purvi Trading (Sawmill) from the last three years. He got married to Jyoti in October 2020 and it was a love marriage and both were staying in the Sawmill area.

Jyoti was talking to someone over phone on Monday night, due to which Lalit got suspicious and they had a huge quarrel.

During the quarrel, Lalit in a fit of anger hit Jyoti on her face and head with a wooden log, due to which she died on the spot, post which he fled the spot. When the incident came to light on Tuesday morning at around 6.30 am, Pardi police and Crime Branch unit-5, reached the murder spot. The police with the help of cyber cell, traced the location of accused husband and arrested the accused from High Life Family Restaurant on Umred Road. The operations was carried out by the Crime Branch unit-5 PI Vinod Patil, API Anil Meshram, PSI Bhlavi, ASI Vijay Raut, constable Sunil Thavkar and others.
