Nagpur district to have 18 vegetable nurseries

Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Nursery Scheme will be implemented in Nagpur district under National Agriculture Development Programme to raise income of farmers by encouraging vegetable production. A target of 18 projects in district has been set. The State government will provide 50 per subsidy for this project.

One nursery each will be developed in every tehsil. These nurseries will grow top class insect free vegetable saplings. This will increase production and income of farmers both. There is an objective of providing supplementary industry to local farmers through nurseries. The main objective of Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Nursery Scheme is to raise vegetable production and income of farmers through change in crop pattern and using new technology.

The cost of every nursery will be `4.60 lakh. Fifty per cent or maximum `2.30 lakh will be given in setting up of this nursery. After project is completed, the sub-divisional agriculture officer will visit the site and conduct inspection.Funds will be given to

The beneficiaries will be 60 per cent fund for saplings and 40 per cent funds to grow saplings. This scheme is entire for preparing new nursery. Those desirous of opting for this scheme will have to undergo around 5 day technical training from Agriculture College, Nagpur mandatorily.

Priority to agri graduate women

The applicant must have 0.40 hectare land in his of her name. There should be permanent water supply facility for preparing nursery. Under this scheme, priority will be given to agriculture graduate women. Similarly, woman self help groups and woman farmers will be given second preference and vegetable growing minor farm owners and their groups will be given third preference. The district agriculture superintendent officer Milind Shende said that online applications can be made on online mahadbt portal and offline applications should be submitted to tehsil agriculture officer upto October 19, 2020.
