Sanskrit is the soul of all languages, necessary to popularies it: Koshyari

“We should promote all Indian languages including Sanskrit, as Sanskrit is the soul of all languages and it is necessary to popularies it. Everyone has to work towards promoting and development of the language and it is not the responsibility of the university or the staff and teachers alone to promote it,” said Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

Governor Koshyari was speaking during the inauguration of Gyanyogi Dr Shrikant Jijchkar Knowledge Resource Centre at the Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU), Ramtek on Friday. Vice chancellor of KKSU Dr Srinivas Varkhedi and Rajshree Jichkar were also present during the function.

Koshyari said Sanskrit has a rich knowledge of vedas. Yoga and ayurveda have got fame across the world and there is a need to do detail study and research on Sanskrit and this should start from Nagpur, as it is the centre of India. He informed that the Central government has given due importance to languages in the new education policy. The policy talks about given preference to regional languages during primary education and hence it is necessary to give special attention to Sanskrit as well as other regional languages. Also knowledge should be passed on new research should be conducted. Praising Late Dr Shrikant Jichkar, Koshyari said he was multi-talented personality and we cannot forget his contribution in promoting Sanskrit.

Vice chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha, Dr Rajneesh Shukla, vice chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Dr Subhash Chaudhari, vice chancellor of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Dr Murlidhar Chandekar, chancellor of Maharashtra Animal and Fisheries University Dr Ashish Paturkar were also present during the ceremony.

Cough doesn’t get better

Governor Koshyari said that he got cough after after coming to Maharashtra and which is still there. Journalists many times ask how much you have learned Marathi after coming to Maharashtra and I give them the answer that, I have just learned to say ‘Khokla bara hot nahi’ (my cough doesn’t get better).

Governor visits Ramtek Gad Mandir

After the program of the university, Governor Koshyari visited Lord Ram’s Gad Mandir and took darshan and offered prayers. During the visit, speaking to Lokmat Times he said that Lord Ram belongs to everyone. After temple, visit, he went to the residence of second Sarsanghchalak Golwalkar Gururji of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
