Vidarbha beat MP by four wickets, Sarvate shines

After losing all T-20 ties in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy annd then a opener against Andhra Pradesh in Vijay Hazare Trophy, Vidarbha tasted victory when they defeated host Madhya Pradesh by four wickets at Emerald High School Ground, Indore on Monday.

Aditya Sarvate played an important role in the victory by claiming three wickets and scoring valuable 39 runs when the team required.

After restricting MP to 243 for 9, Vidarbha achieved the target sparing four wickets in 48.5 overs. Openers Faiz Fazzl (43, 70b, 5x4) and R Sanjay who came in place of Jitesh Sharma (32, 50b, 2x4, 1x6) gave flying start to Vidarbha and made 61 run partnership for first wicket. When both were looking solid, Ramaswami was unfortunatley ran out by Kumar Kartikeya. After his departure experienced Ganesh Satish (47, 66b, 2x4, 1x6) gave good company to the skipper. However when Faiz was seven run short of his half century wicketkeepr Abhishek Bhandri stumped him off Kumar Kartikeya with 101 runs on board. Ganesh Satish in the company of centurian of the last match Yash Rathod (39, 45b, 3x4, 1x6) steadied the innnings and stitched up 61 run partnership for third wicket. Significant contribution also came from Aditya Sarvate (39, 23b,5x4, 1x6). Darshan Nalkande remained unbeaten on 19 with Sarvate and took Vidarbha towards victory.

EarlierMP skipper Parth Sahani won the toss and opted to bat. They lost opener Venkatesh Iyer without opening the account but recovered through wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Bhandari (31) and Shubham Sharma (36).

Thereafter, Rajat Patidar (38) and Aditya Shrivastava (52) were involved in a big partnership for the fourth wicket to provide stability to their innings. However, both departed in quick succession as Vidarbha looked on top of the MP batsmen.

Just when it appeared that hosts MP would crumble under pressure, skipper Parth Sahani played a captain?ss knock and bailed out his team.Sahani?ss unbeaten knock of 68 helped his side reach a respectable score of 243. He faced 58 balls and struck six fours and three sixes.Vidarbha pacers Aditya Thakare, Darshan Nalkande and Saurabh Dubey bowled well and got a wicket each.
