Amid the rising tension between India and China, the Indian government, on June 29, banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok. Post the ban a few days back  a popular TikToker died by suicide. as reported by Punjab Kesari. As per reports, the TikToker had gone to her hometown, where she took her own life. While it is being deliberated if she died due to TikTok ban or other reasons, police have reportedly sent her body for post-mortem and are still probing the matter. The deceased victim's father is a police officer. A few days before, 16  year old Siya Kakkar ended her life similarly.

Earlier, Popular TikToker, Aashiv Midha, in a interview said, how livelihoods might be affected due to the TikTok ban. He had shared, “There were a lot of people who had 5-6 million followers, who would promote a song and earn lakhs a month. Their livelihoods will be impacted but they were mostly those who didn't have much talent other than lip-syncing to the songs. Still, it is bad that they will be impacted by it.”
