Ajmer becomes a major COVID-19 spot in Rajasthan after 79 positive cases emerge in 12 hours

Ajmer has reported 79 new cases of coronavirus in the last 12 hours. The sudden spike in COVID-19 cases has turned Ajmer into a major hotspot in the state of Rajasthan.  As per reports, the confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported from areas around the Ajmer Sharif Darga.The officials have said that the new cases can be traced back to a man who has a travel history to Bihar.  The area has been sealed and is being sanitized and with these fresh cases, the overall case tally in the city has risen to 100.

Ajmer is under the lockdown since March 22 and the first positive ase in the city was reported on March 28. Second case of a single source infecting many others was reported on April 20. The next day there were 35 positive cases and on April 22 there were 44 positive cases more. It is understood that most of the patients are salesman and labourers. The total number of samples collected from the area is 329, out of which the results of around 200 have come with 79 positive cases.  Meanwhile, the overall number of coronavirus cases in India has gone up to 21,393, with 1,409 fresh Covid-19 cases reported in past 24 hours, according to the latest data from Ministry of Health. The death toll from Covid-19 has risen to 681 after 41 casualties were reported.
