Army Chief Naravane: 250 Pak terrorists trying to cross the LoC

New Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane said on Friday that around 250 Pakistani terrorists are deployed across the Line of Control (LoC) and are trying to infiltrate the Indian border every day. He also said that there are about 20 to 25 active terror launch pads across the Line of Control and India is monitoring the situation. General Naravane said that Pakistan has again activated terrorist camps in Balakot.

Regarding the Balakot air strike on 26 February 2019, Naravane said, "We certainly have achieved a lot. The terrorist camps were destroyed." He said that terrorist camps have become active there again. He also said that the locations of terrorist camps and launch pads keep changing.

General Naravane said, "There is a perception that terrorist camps are run through madrasas or some huge infrastructure. Terror camps are being operated from small huts too. These camps are also run from homes in villages." He said that according to intelligence estimates, about 200 to 250 terrorists are waiting across the Line of Control and are trying every day to infiltrate.

The army chief also said that due to heavy snowfall in the valley, it has become difficult for Pakistani terrorists to infiltrate. When asked about the attempt by foreign (Afghan) militants to cross the Line of Control, he said that many terrorists who have made such an attempt have been killed.
