Taking both doses of the vaccine against the coronavirus reduces the chances of hospitalization or death. A recent study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) revealed this. ICMR included 677 people in the study. Only 9.8 per cent of them had to be hospitalized. The ICMR performed this study to obtain information on infection even after taking both doses of the vaccine.

A total of 677 people were included in the study, who tested positive after taking the first or second dose of the vaccine. Of the 677 people, 592 had taken both doses of the vaccine. Of these, 527 had received the Covishield vaccine and 63 had received the Covaxin vaccine. While 85 people were given a single dose of the vaccine.   This information was collected from 17 states and union territories.

Only 9.8 percent of people were hospitalized during the study, while 0.4 percent, or 3 people, died after taking both doses. During the second covid wave in the country, many people were infected with delta variant. Of the people involved in the study, 384 were found to be infected with the Delta variant. 86.69 per cent or 443 people were infected with Delta, Alpha, Kappa, Delta AY.1 and Delta AY.2.

With the second wave slowly receding in India, the risk of a third wave is on the rise. Dr Samiran Panda, head of the Indian Council of Medical Research's (ICMR) Division of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases, said a third wave of corona virus was expected by the end of August. Dr. Sameeran Panda spoke to a news channel. The third wave of corona infection will not be as dangerous as the second wave.
