India is currently dealing with a devastating second Covid-19 wave that has swept through the nation, crushing the country's health infrastructure and overburdening frontline medical workers. The number of corona victims and the death toll is increasing day by day. Various measures are being taken to prevent corona infection.

Similarly, the central government has come up with a plan to focus on covid-19 vaccination. According to the government's plan, the shortage of vaccine for people between the ages of 18 and 44 will be eliminated from July. According to sources, the central government has set a target of vaccinating 94 crore people in the country by December.

A few days ago, the government said that between August and December, 200 crore doses would be available across the country. Which is enough for adults.

Let's find out what the government is doing to vaccinate so many people in just 7 months. Vaccination campaign in India started from 15th January. On Friday, the campaign completed 4 months. 18 crore people have been vaccinated during these 120 days. This means that an average of 1.5 million people have been vaccinated.

It is estimated that the number of adults is around 94 crores. 170 crore doses will be given in the remaining 231 days of the year for vaccination. That means 74 lakh vaccinations a day.

How will the vaccine be available to adults?

An official said that 8.50 crore doses are expected to be available in May, 10 crore in June, 15 crore in July, 36 crore in August, 50 crore in September, 56 crore in October, 59 crore in November and 65 crore in December. About 40 per cent of the vaccine doses were made available in May. The rest will come soon. He said some stock for the month of May would be filled in June.

Six million doses of the Russian-made Sputnik vaccine are expected in May. 1 crore doses will be available in June, 2.5 crore in July and 1.6 crore in August. The stock of this vaccine dose is expected to increase rapidly after August. Some local companies will manufacture these doses. The central government estimates that 7 crore doses will be available in July, 10 crore in August, 11.5 crore in September, October, November and December.

Two and a half crore doses of Covaxin will be available in June, 7.5 crore in July-August, 7.7 crore in September, 10.2 crore in October-November, 13.5 crore doses expected in December.

Apart from this, international vaccine doses of Biological, Novavax, Genova and Bharat Biotech are also expected to be available. The government does not currently include the vaccine in pre-clinical trials.

According to government estimates, the vaccine will be available in large quantities by the end of July. This means that vaccination will be faster after July compared to two and a half months of vaccination. According to the affidavit submitted by the central government to the Supreme Court, a total of 6.12 crore doses will be available to the state in May. In May, an average of 2.5 million doses are given daily. The government is expected to stockpile 100 million doses in June and 150 million doses in July. If this estimate proves true, 33 crore vaccinations will be done in India in the next 78 days. Accordingly, 137 crore vaccinations will be given in 153 days from August 1 to December 31. This means that 90 lakh doses of vaccine will be given daily.
