State-owned oil firms hiked the petrol and diesel prices by 40 paisa per litre and 45 paisa per litre, respectively for the fourth day in a row. Daily price revision has restarted after a gap of more than 80 days.

This is the fourth daily increase in rates in a row. During those last four days, the price of petrol has gone up by ₹2.14 a litre and that of diesel by ₹2.23 a litre (Delhi rates).

Oil companies had on Sunday raised prices by 60 paisa per litre on both petrol and diesel.

The hike in the fuel prices is because of the easing of the lockdown and reopening of the Indian economy.
