Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that the scheme begun in collaboration with the WHO will bring major changes in the health sector.

He said that the country is currently witnessing productive transformation in its health sector.

The Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) aims to provide WHO with a strategic roadmap to plan its work with India to achieve its health sector goals.

"Four areas have been identified for strategic cooperation with WHO. The objective of the programme is to protect people's health, promote healthy lifestyle and strengthen India's global leadership in the health sector."

Vardhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has made significant progress in various areas in the health sector.

Everyone should take responsibility for their health and adopt a healthy lifestyle, making health a priority in everyday life. The government has also launched several initiatives to support the same including the Fit India movement, Poshan Abhiyaan and the Eat Right India movement, he said.

Apart from health, focus needs to be put on other crucial health areas such as environment, good nutrition and food safety, he added.

WHO representative in India, Henk Bekedam, said that this strategic document is based on India's National Health Policy-2017.
