Panaji, March 27 The Indian Navy on Friday pressed its reconnaissance aircraft to contribute to the fight against coronavirus, ferrying 60,000 face masks for health workers in Goa.

The Navy said: "A shipment of 60,000 face masks ordered by Indian Medical Association, Goa, to offset the shortfall in the state was stuck at Delhi as trucks could not proceed further due to the lockdown."

An Ilyushin 38SD (IL-38), a long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft, carried the crucial consignment from the national capital to the INS Hansa naval base, which also doubles up as Goa's only airport facility at Dabolim in South Goa.

Goa currently has three coronavirus positive patients, while more than 1,500 suspect cases are under quarantine at homes or government-run quarantine facilities.
