Nitish Kumar: I had no desire to become Bihar CM, had to take up CM chair due to immense pressure

After handing over the reins of Janata Dal-United (JD-U) party to Ramchandra Prasad Singh, now Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made another big statement. Kumar claimed that he had to take up the CM chair due to immense pressure and he doesn't care who takes up the Bihar hot seat.

I had no desire to become the Chief Minister. I had said that the public had given its mandate and anyone can be made the Chief Minister, BJP could make its own Chief Minister, said Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.

"There was a lot of pressure on me to accept the chief ministership. I was under a lot of pressure. So I accepted the post of Chief Minister. After the election results came, I made my wish known to the coalition. But the pressure was so much that I had to take up work again," he added.

It should be noted that Nitish Kumar's statement has come amid increasing tensions within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) following the BJP taking away six JD-(U) MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh, saying it was against the coalition's understanding.

Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) on Sunday expressed its deep resentment at the BJP for the act.
