Pakistan Court charges Hafiz Saeed for illegal funding of terror activities

Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed was charged for terror financing by a Pakistani court. The charge  was ponounced by Anti-terrorism court judge Malik Arshad Bhutta who also indicted his accomplices for funding terrorist activities in different cities of Punjab province. Under pressure from the international community, the Pakistani authorities have launched investigation into matters of the Lakshar-e-Taiba, JUD and its charity wing Falah-e- Insaniat for their holding and use of trusts to raise funds for terrorism financing.

Cases have been registered in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan cities for collection of funds for terror-financing through assets/properties     made and held in the names of trusts. The court charges have come ahead of a world financial watchdog meeting early next year to decide whether to blacklist Pakistan on failure to curb terror financing. Saeed who carries a $10m United States government bounty has been accused by India and the US for planning the 2008 attacks in Mumbai that killed more than 160 people.
