Independence Day 2020: PM Modi to make a big announcement in health sector during August 15 speech

The National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) may be announced in August. Under NDHM, personal health ID of every citizen of the country will be created. Every citizen’s health record will be digitized. It will also have a registry of doctors and health facilities. The Times of India quoted a source as saying that the proposal has been approved by the Cabinet in principle. Also, a final decision could be made by the end of this week. According to sources, PM Modi may announce the launch of this mission during  his Independence Day address.

This digital platform mainly covers four points which includes, Health ID, Personal Health Record, Doctors and Health Facility Registry. In due course, e-pharmacy and telemedicine services will also be included. At the moment regulatory guidelines are being prepared for this. Indu Bhushan, Chief Executive of the National Health Authority (NHA), said, “The implementation of NDHM will increase the efficiency and transparency of health services. With this plan, India will move faster towards achieving the goal of United Nations Global Health Coverage. ” According to the report, the NHA, which implements the world's largest health scheme Ayushman Bharat, has developed the app and website. This scheme is being seen as a big scheme after Ayushman Bharat in the healthcare sector.
