Rahul Gandhi hesitant to accept top post - Reports

The Congress's Rahul Gandhi who quit the party top post last year is understood to be a bit reluctant o accept top post according to reports in the media. According to sources, there are talks that a "leader of the stature" of Dr Manmohan Singh or AK Antony could be made the interim president. Once the coronavirus pandemic is over, a plenary session could be called to make Rahul Gandhi as the party president once again. As Sonia Gandhi, the interim chief of the party, said she would offer to resign, leaders like Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and his Chhattisgarh counterpart Bhupesh Baghel pledged support to her.

Sonia Gandhi was appointed as the interim president after Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post, owning responsibility for the Lok Sabha poll debacle last year. After one year of leading the party, her tenure was renewed on August 10. Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is also clear she will remain as a general secretary and not take on a bigger role.
