Railways will resume suburban services in West Bengal from Nov 11

Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday announced that railways will resume suburban services in West Bengal from 11th November. He further said, with adequate safety measures in place, this will enhance passenger convenience and facilitate smooth travel for the people.

Metro services of Kolkata had been restored recently much to the relief of a large section of commuters.

Goyal took to twitter and wrote,"Railways will resume suburban services in West Bengal from 11th November. With adequate safety measures in place, this will enhance passenger convenience and facilitate smooth travel for the people."

From November 11, 362 local trains will run on the railway tracks. According to the information received, local trains will run according to the old timetable.

As the Sealdah division is the busiest, a total of 228 locals will run on the up-down route. In Howrah division 100 local trains and the remaining 34 trains will run from Kharagpur in south-east division. Due to the Corona epidemic, local train services in Bengal were closed since March 20.

A meeting was held between the state government and the Railways on November 2, in which it was decided to start local train services with 10 to 15 per cent capacity on Eastern and South Eastern Railways.
