Rajesh Bhushan: Ready to roll out COVID-19 vaccine within 10 days of emergency use approval

Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said that the government is prepared to roll out Covid-19 vaccines within 10 days of granting emergency use authorisation.

Vaccination will begin in the country within 10 days of receiving emergency approval for the coronavirus vaccine, said Rajesh Bhushan, secretary, Union Health Ministry. Therefore, it is now clear that vaccination will start in the country next week. The central government has given a 'New Year gift' to the country and approved the 'Covaxin' vaccine of Bharat Biotech and the 'Covshield' vaccine of Serum Institute for emergency use on January 3. Vaccination is expected to start in the country on January 13 or 14 within 10 days of the approval.

A vaccination team will consist of 5 people. Informing about the stock of Corona vaccine, Rajesh Bhushan said that primary vaccine stores have been set up in Karnal, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata in the country. There are a total of 37 such vaccine storage stores in the country. The vaccine will be stored at these places and will be distributed to other places from there, said Bhushan. The distribution of vaccines in the country will be controlled digitally. He said that this facility has been available in India for the last 10 years.
