Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita to be taught in madrassas across the country soon

Lessons of Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita will soon be taught in madarassas across the country. Along with this, madarassas students will also be given yoga lessons. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is launching a new curriculum on ancient Indian knowledge and heritage at 100 madarassas as part of the National Education Policy (NEP). 

NIOS under the Ministry of Education will start basic courses for classes 3, 5 and 8. Initially, it will start with 100 madrassas. Also in future this program will be extended to 500 madrasas, said NIOS President Saroj Sharma.

According to the report, the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has created 15 courses in the Indian knowledge tradition. These include Vedas, Yoga, Science, Sanskrit, Vocational Skills, Ramayana epic narratives, Gita teachings and Panini-propounded Maheshwara Sutras. 

This course is suitable for 3rd, 5th and 8th class. Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Tuesday released the study material at the NIOS headquarters in Noida. At this time, he said, 'India is a mine of ancient languages, science, art, culture and traditions. Now the country is ready to become a superpower in the field of knowledge by reviving its ancient tradition. We will extend the benefits of this course to madrassas and communities around the world, 'he said.
