In a shocking bit of news which was emerged from a hospital morgue in Punjab he dead body of an ex-Army man’s wife was allegedly chewed upon by rats. The family of the deceased staged a protest outside the hospital on Friday over the alleged negligence by the hospital staff. The deceased woman was identified as Jasjot Kaur, the wife of Colonel Amarjeet Singh Chandok (retired). She died of cardiac arrest on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Indus hospital in the city. Her daughter, Chamanpreet Kaur, said that the body was shifted to the hospital’s mortuary after her death, as per the procedure.

However, when the daughter went to the mortuary to receive the body, she spotted stains of blood on her mother’s ear and face. She alleged that the hospital staff did not render a satisfactory response when she questioned them about it. This prompted her to call her father. “We examined the body and found it has been eaten up at the ears and the face,” a report by The Indian Express quoted the woman as saying. The police assured a thorough investigation into the matter after the family protested outside the hospital. The body has been sent to Derabassi Civil Hospital for conducting post-mortem. SHO Satinder Pal Singh said that a board of doctors will conduct the autopsy on Saturday after which the police will proceed further. The Managing Director of Indus Hospital, Dr Surinder Singh Bedi, said they will conduct proper inquiry into the incident and take action.
