Sputnik V vaccine to be available in market by next week

The second wave of corona has hit the country and more than three lakh corona patients are being registered every day. Last week, more than 4 lakh patients were reported in the country.

Despite some improvement in the situation compared to last week, the death toll in the country is increasing day by day. Vaccination needs to be stepped up to prevent coronavirus outbreaks. Therefore, Modi government has approved Sputnik V to be imported from Russia by Dr Reddy's, but is yet to be widely available in India. The sale of the vaccine will begin next week.

The Russian-made Sputnik vaccine will be available in Indian markets next week. Dr. VK Paul, a member of the Niti Aayog, informed about this.

People will be vaccinated with Sputnik vaccine from next week. Sputnik will start production in India from July, Paul said. "I'm happy to say that we're hopeful that it'll be available in the market next week. We're hopeful that the sale of the limited supply that has come from there (Russia), will begin next week," Dr VK Paul said at a press briefing. Further supply will also follow, the senior government official said, adding that Sputnik V will be produced in India from July onwards.

We are constantly working on different levels to make more vaccines available. It is expected that 216 crore doses will be available between August and December.These include 550 million doses of Covaxin, 75 million doses of Covishield, 30 million doses of Bio E sub unit vaccine, 5 crore doses of Zydus Cadilla, 200 million doses of nova vaccine, 100 million doses of Bharat Biotech's nasal vaccine, 6 crore doses of Genoa and it will contain 150 million doses of Sputnik. Apart from this, vaccines from other countries will also come to India, Paul said.
