Third covid wave may arrive in next 6 to 8 weeks, says AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria

The third wave of Coronavirus is expected to arrive in India in the next six to eight weeks. This information has been given by AIIMS Chief Dr. Randeep Guleria.
The third wave of corona cannot be avoided, he added. The process of unlocking is underway in most parts of the country after the lockdown phase which started at the end of March. However, experts had warned about the third wave of corona a few days ago.

Dr. Randeep Guleria spoke to NDTV in an interview where he said, ‘Now we have started unlocking, but again people are not following covid appropriate behaviour. We don't seem to have learned anything from what happened during the first and second wave. People are gathering in crowds again flouting social disctancing norms. But in the next 6 to 8 weeks the third wave of corona may come ... or maybe it will take a while.' At the same time, he said, 'it depends on how we are handling the covid related rule and following social distancing.'

Maharashtra covid-19 task force has warned that the third wave could hit the state or it's financial capital Mumbai— within the next two to four weeks. The task force said that children are less likely to affected by the 3rd wave as much as those in lower middle-class clusters who haven’t been exposed to the virus so far. These predictions were presented in the meeting chaired by CM Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday that was held to review preparedness for third wave. It included task force members, the state health minister and senior bureaucrats.
