A train ran without halting anywhere for around 200 kilometres from Lalitpur railway station in Uttar Pradesh till Bhopal to rescue a three-year-old girl who was abducted. The police nabbed the kidnapper, who eventually turned out to be the child's father.
The mother of the girl approached Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawan at the Lalitpur station on Monday. She alleged that a man had forcibly taken her three-year-old girl and suspected that he might have boarded a train.
After the complaint, RPF looked through CCTV footage and found that one person with a girl was boarding Rapti Sagar Superfast Express which had just left for Bhopal.
RPF personnel then informed their inspector at the Jhansi Junction who in turn told the operating control room at Bhopal and requested the train be allowed to run non-stop to avoid the 'kidnapper' from escaping.
Instead of stopping at the next scheduled station Jhansi, the train continued to run till Bhopal.
After the train reached Bhopal Junction, RPF officials, Government Railway Police and Railways managed to recover the girl and the 'kidnapper' was taken into custody.
During questioning, they got to know that the 'kidnapper' was the girl's father, the SP added.
Police said the father apparently had a fight with his wife and left home with their three-year-old girl on Monday. The couple's home is said to be close to the Lalitpur station. Police said they suspect that the girl's mother had all along known that her husband had taken away their daughter.
