Validity period of TET certificate extended from 7 years to lifetime

Many dream of becoming government teachers. But due to overcrowding and lack of quality teachers, the central government had made it mandatory for teachers to pass the TET exam. The central government has given great relief to teachers and aspiring candidates across the country.

The Central Government on Thursday had terminated the 7-year validity of the Teacher Eligibility Test. Once a teacher or aspiring candidate has passed the TET exam, his / her certificate is valid for only seven years.

The validity period of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualifying certificate has been extended from 7 years to lifetime with retrospective effect from 2011. Respective State /UTs will take necessary action to revalidate/issue fresh TET certificates to candidates whose period of 7 years has already elapsed, the notification read.
