Wanted criminal with bounty of Rs 25,000 held with aide

Gurugram, Jan 12 The Crime Branch unit of the Gurugram police has arrested a wanted inter-state criminal along with his associate from the Dwarka Expressway near Garhi Harsaru village in Gurugram.

Disclosing this on Tuesday, the police said that a bounty of Rs 25,000 had been fixed on one of the criminals.

The main accused has identified as Akash alias Ashu from Bamdoli village in Gurugram, who was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The other accused has been identified as Jasveer alias Jassa from Jind district in Haryana.

The police said that the nabbed culprits were involved in two dozen cases, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and extortion and snatching.

"Akash was the kingpin of this gang. Including Akash, we have now arrested 13 gang members of his gang. Till now, we have recovered one revolver, eight live cartridges and a Mahindra Scorpio car from their possession," said Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (Crime).

According to the police, the accused were arrested by the crime branch team of Palam Vihar unit led by inspector Joginder Singh from the Dwarka Expressway near Garhi Harsaru village on Monday following a tip-off.

During interrogation, Akash disclosed that on November 15, he along with his gang members had attacked the family members of a former sarpanch in Bamdoli village in which four persons sustained critical injuries.

"All the nabbed culprits are habitual offenders and have served jail terms in the past," Sangwan said.

It may be recalled that in 2007, Akash had allegedly killed one of his classmates inside the school premises with his father's licenced pistol.
