Success story of Gautam Adani who is now Asia's second richest man after Mukesh Ambani

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has become Asia's second richest man after massive surge in his wealth this year. According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Gautam Adani replaced China’s Zhong Shanshan as second richest Asian with total net worth $66.5 billion as of May 20.

Reliance Group chairman Mukesh Ambani is the richest man in Asia. Adani’s wealth has surged by $32.7 billion this year, while Shanshan's wealth dropped by$14.6 billion, a report by Bloomberg said.

Adani Group's six companies have a market cap of over Rs 1 lakh crore. After Tata Group and Reliance, Adani Group is the third business house in the country to reach $ 100 billion market cap.

Adani's business is in airports, data centers, defense centers, power points. In the last one year, Adani's wealth has increased significantly. Gautam Adani was born on June 24, 1962 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Adani has six siblings.

He was living in Sheth Chawl in Pol area of Ahmedabad. He enrolled in a bachelor's degree in commerce at Gujarat University, but dropped out after the second year. As a teenager, Adani moved to Mumbai to work as a diamond sorter for Mahendra Brothers. He worked there for 2-3 years before establishing his own diamond brokerage firm at Zaveri Bazaar, Mumbai.

In a few years, Gautam Adani started his own diamond brokerage firm in Mumbai's Zaveri Bazaar. After spending some time in Mumbai, he came back to Ahmedabad to work in his brother's plastic factory. This venture turned out to be Adani's gateway to global trading through polyvinyl chloride (PVC) imports.

PVC is widely used for making plastics. PVC imports progressed and in 1988 Adani Group Power and Agri Commodities were officially established. The Adani Group benefited greatly from economic reforms in 1991 and became an international entrepreneur

1995 was a successful year for Gautam Adani. When his company got a contract to manage the currency port. Gautam Adani then diversified his business. 10 years after Adani Power Limited came into existence in 1996, the company entered the power generation industry.

Gautam Adani's business has spread in many areas. It is considered to be the largest coal mining contractor. Now Gautam Adani's focus is on everything from cement factories to infrastructure to road construction, defense production and railways.
