Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal's brother Nafees Iqbal tested positive for coronavirus. Nafees made his debut for Bangladesh in 2003 and has played 11 Tests and 16 ODIs.

Former Pakistan first-class cricketer Zafar Sarfraz died of COVID-19. Zafar succumbed to the novel coronavirus at the Lady Reading Hospital. . The 50-year was the first professional cricket player from Pakistan to succumb to the coronavirus, after testing positive. Zafar, a left-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler, played first-class cricket from 1988 to 1994 and List A cricket from 1990 to 1992. He made 616 runs from 15 first-class games for Peshawar and also had 96 runs from six one-day games before retiring in 1994

Bangladesh's Nazmul Islam Opu became the first active cricketer to test positive for COVID-19 on June 20. His parents too have contracted the virus, confirmed the cricketer adding that they are all being treated at home.

Former India cricketer Chetan Chauhan has tested positive for coronavirus. The news was announced late Saturday night (July 11) through tweets by former players Aakash Chopra and R.P. Singh.

Former Pakistan opener Taufeeq Umar tested positive for COVID-19 in May. The 38-year-old was the first international-level Pakistan cricketer to be infected with the coronavirus though the country lost former first class cricketer Zafar Sarfraz to the disease on April 13. Sarfraz, who had played 15 first class games for Peshawar, died aged 50. Umar played 44 Tests and 12 ODIs, scoring 2963 and 504 runs respectively for Pakistan
