Today marks the 48th birthday of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly. Sourav Ganguly, is often credited in changing the attitude of Indian cricketers and revolutionized Indian cricket.

Dada taught Team India to be fearless and Ganguly gave chance to many talented players like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, and Harbhajan Singh.

The 2003 World Cup and the pre-2002 NatWest series is where the face of Indian cricket changed. Ganguly brought a sense of aggression among players.

Ganguly represented Team India in 113 Tests and 311 ODIs. In Tests, he scored 7,212 runs with 16 centuries at an average of 42.18. He had scored a century in his debut match in 1996. He also has 35 fifties and 32 wickets to his name in Tests.

In ODI cricket, he has scored 11,363 runs at an average of 40.73, including 22 centuries and 72 fifties. He has also taken 100 wickets in ODIs including a five wicket haul against Pakistan in Toronto.

Ganguly is known by the nickname Prince of Kolkata. Ganguly was born on July 8, 1972.

The palace where Ganguly lives is 64 years old. Ganguly lives in a 48-room palace.

The house is from the ancestors of Chandidas Ganguly, the father of Sourav Ganguly.

Very few people would have had the kind of childhood that former India captain Sourav Ganguly had. His house was not a normal 2 BHK, but a bungalow of 40 bedrooms right in the central region of Kolkata. The 45-year-old, who after retiring as a player is involved in cricket administration, still stays in the same bungalow along with his wife and daughter Sana.

The house looks absolutely lavish to say the least. Its exterior, as well as the interior, give it a royal appearance. There is a separate room where all the trophies and awards that the former Indian captain won at different stages of his career have been kept.

In a video released by Asian Paints recently, Ganguly can be seen talking about his home, how he is emotionally attached to it and how it gives him a feeling of comfort the moment he steps into its surroundings. The legend reveals that he has lived with his entire life in the same house and his family had actually been living here for two decades before his birth.

“I’ve grown up in this house even before I picked up a cricket bat. My family has lived here for 64 years. For me, this is home, this is the place where I get happiness and peace with all the people around.” “It’s a comfort feeling when you enter this area, you enter the gate and you walk down the drive way. It’s relaxing and comforting. After I go away from the city for a while, I long to come back to this wonderful place.” Ganguly said.
