Team India after a victory by an innings and 25 runs against England in the 4th Test, have overhauled New Zealand to take the top spot in the ICC Test rankings.

With their gigantic win over England, Virat Kohli’s India have won the 4-match Test series by 3-1.

With this victory, India have also qualified for the ICC World Test Championship final alongside Kane Williamson’s New Zealand. The ICC event is scheduled to be held at Lord’s in June.

With Australia cancelling their tour of South Africa last month, New Zealand with 420 points from 11 Tests with 7 wins and 4 defeats became the first team to qualify for the World Test Championship final.

With this win, India have also topped the World Test Championship table with 490 points with 12 wins from 17 Tests, while losing only 4 matches with a solitary draw in the entire span.

"Now, we can accept and admit that we are in the WTC final; it was a distraction for us. It did become a bit of distraction for us in New Zealand, but we took it one game at a time since," Virat Kohli said after India's 3-1 series win, on Saturday.

Prior to the Test match, the Indian cricket team were on the second spot in the ICC Test Rankings and New Zealand were on the top spot of the ICC Test Team Rankings. However, the Indian Cricket Team came up with scintillating performances after losing the first Test and went on to win the series.

When the series began, it was none short of a disaster for the hosts. The visitors came up with a thumping win in the first Test of the four-match series as they beat the hosts by 227 runs. However, the hosts bounced back on the trot and won three games consecutively to go into the final of the ICC World Test Championship.

Now, the final of the World Test Championship will take place from June 18 at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground. As India have qualified for the final, the Aisa Cup is also likely to be postponed as the PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani indicated a couple of days ago.

After the massive series-win, Virat Kohli talked about the defeat in the opening Test and then a sensational comeback in the series from the next game.
