Akshay Kumar & Raveena Tandon love affair, check out reason why they broke up

Raveena Tandon was the most sensational actress of the 90s. We all remember her looking super hot dancing in a yellow saree on Tip Tip Barsa Paani. Her immense beauty and sensation left people mesmerized.

But, there was a time when Raveena Tandon was head over heels in love with Akshay Kumar the Khiladi himself.Akshay Kumar who is now recognized as a loving man and a perfect and loyal husband. But there was a time when Akshay Kumar was known as an exuberant man by nature.

His list of relationships with a popular actress of Bollywood is indeed a long and scandalous one starting from Shilpa Shetty to Rekha.The love between the Khiladi and the ultimate fantasy queen of men in the 90s grew during the shooting of the film Mohra in the year 1994. Their chemistry was sizzling on-screen and them being close off-screen was all over the media and Bollywood industry.

Both Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar attended most of the Bollywood events together and entire Bollywood celebrities were in the view that they will get married soon.Raveena revealed in an interview with Stardust that Akshay Kumar would marry her the day she would complete her last shoot. She even confessed to getting engaged to Akshay Kumar in the mandir. When asked her if they were already married, Raveena said,

“No, there was a very elaborate engagement ceremony. With the pandit doing pooja and everything. His family had flown down from Delhi, my family came from Delhi. One of his elders had put a red dupatta on my head, and I think that was mistaken to be a wedding.”Since Akshay was scared of not being able to hold on to his career and female fans if the news of his engagement was out, he told Raveena to keep their engagement a secret.

Raveena Tandon gave up her acting career as Akshay wanted her to be a house maker. Raveena said in an interview,“It was a voluntary decision. I was engaged to somebody I knew. This is what I wanted, to lead a very normal life. I quit in advance before marriage because we did think that when there will be the last day of my shoot, we will go ahead and get married. Once I re-started my career, he again said that leave it and we will go ahead with the wedding. But, then I told him that once I chose you over my career, but now I will choose my career over you.”

With the release of the movie Khiladiyo Ka Khiladi in 1996, the news of Rekha and Akshay being connected came into limelight and people started talking about the two. The news was out that Rekha was in love with Akshay’s personality but this news of their affair didn’t go well with Raveena. She said it, Rekha, to maintain distance from Akshay.

After the break up between the two Raveena Tandon alleged many things in the media against Akshay Kumar. She always made a statement that loyalty has no meaning to him. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar wanted her to forgive him every time and she even abided by it for almost a three years span but she couldn’t take it further.

Raveena said,“We started off as friends. We got to know each other only when we went together for a few shows in America and Canada. I think loyalty meant a lot to me, but I did not mean so much to him. He expected me to forgive and take him back every time. I did that for three years, until it was the last round.”

In her interview in July 1999, a shattered Tandon confessed that Akshay proposes his love to every second girl and the pace with which he is moving, he will in the coming time have to recognize the parents of about three-fourth of girls in Mumbai as ‘Mom and Dad’.
