Female Bollywood celebs who were jailed before Rhea Chakraborty

Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty is currently lodged in Byculla jail. Rhea has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau after a drug connection came to light in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case. She has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Rhea is not the first Bollywood actress to be jailed. Even before this, some actresses were imprisoned for different reasons.Let us have a look at some of them.

Monica Bedi who starred in many films during the 90s was arrested with Abu Salem and later served prison sentences in Portugal for entering the country on forged documents.In 2006, an Indian Court convicted Bedi for procuring a passport on a fictitious name.

In November 2010, the Supreme Court of India upheld her conviction but reduced the prison sentence to the period that she had already served.

Prerna Arora, who produced the films Padman, Toilet A Love Story, Rustam, has also been jailed. She was arrested on charges of defrauding crores of rupees on Prerna was imprisoned for about 8 months.

Payal Rohtagi was arrested in Ahmedabad for making insulting remarks on social media against the Nehru-Gandhi family. She was released on bail a few days later.

Shweta Basu Prasad was held by Hyderabad police on August 31, 2014 for being involved in a high-profile prostitution racket.[

Shweta released a statement admitting her involvement. "I have made wrong choices in my career, and I was out of money.... All the doors were closed, and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money." Shweta said in her statement.
