Bhumi Pednekar is celebrating her 31st birthday on Saturday, July 18. The Pati Patni Aur Woh actress has come a long way since making her Bollywood debut.
Pednekar rose to prominence by playing headstrong small-town women in the comedy-dramas Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Bala (2019), and Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019
For her portrayal of the septuagenarian sharpshooter Chandro Tomar in Saand Ki Aankh (2019), she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.
Pednekar made her acting debut with Sharat Katariya's romantic comedy Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). Starring opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, she featured as Sandhya, an overweight woman who marries Khurrana's character. In preparation for the role, Pednekar gained close to 12 kg, despite being slightly overweight before filming commenced.
In 2019, Pednekar began a campaign named Climate Warrior to raise awareness on environmental protection and global warming.She is also vocal about issues such as pay parity and has spoken out about the gender pay gap in Bollywood, calling it "insulting" and "heartbreaking".
She did her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir School, Juhu in Mumbai. She has been a meritorious student but failed once in the 7TH standard in Physics.
She assisted Yash Raj Films in casting actors for films such as Chak De! India, Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year and Teen Patti.
On the work front, Bhumi was last seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in 'Pati Patni Aur Woh'. She has some interesting projects in the pipeline like- 'Durgavati', 'Takht', and 'Mr Lele'.
