The small screen series CID ruled the minds of the viewers for many years. One of the popular characters in the program was Inspector Daya, famous for breaking down doors.

The character of Inspector Daya was portrayed by Dayanand Shetty in the CID series which made him truly popular.

In fact, this was Dayanand's first serial and his personality was hugely liked by the audience.

Many do not know but Dayanand Shetty was a sports person before he got into acting.

In 1994, he was the champion of discus throw in Maharashtra.

After becoming the champion in the game Discus Throw, Dayanand got an opportunity to act. He auditioned for the CID show and passed the audition. He was selected for the role of Inspector Daya.

Daya charges Rs one lakh for one day of shooting.

This means that if Daya is shooting every day, his monthly income is Rs 30 lakh.

Dayanand Shetty has also acted in many Bollywood films. These include films like Singham Returns, Johnny Gaddar and Runway.

Moni Ambegaonkar had worked in the early days of the CID series. Meanwhile, there were rumors that Dayanand and Mona were having an affair.

Daya and Moni are also believed to have a child.

Dayanand is married to Smita Shetty and they have a daughter.
