The Indian men's hockey team defeated Germany 5-4 in a bronze medal match at the Tokyo Olympics today to win the medal after 41 years. The Indian hockey team finished third and captured the bronze medal.

The Indian hockey team last won a gold medal at the Olympics in 1980. Since then, India has not won a medal in any of the Olympics. In this year's Olympics, India had entered the semi-finals with a strong performance.

India did not have a good start in the match between India and Germany. Germany scored in the first quarter. India then tried to make a comeback. But they did not succeed. Germany dominated the first quarter. But in the second half India came back strongly with a spirited fightback.

Both teams scored one goal in a row in the second quarter. Meanwhile, India scored three goals and Germany two. Germany scored two goals in two minutes to give India a 3-1 lead. However, the Indian team made a strong comeback.

The third goal for India after Hardik Singh was scored by Harmanpreet Singh on a penalty corner to level the score at 3-3. Thus, a total of 5 goals were scored in this quarter.

With the start of the third quarter, India took a more aggressive stance. Rupinder Pal Singh scored on a penalty stroke to give India a 4-3 lead.

Just five minutes after Rupinderpal Singh scored, Simranjit Singh scored to give India a 5-3 lead. This was Simranjit's second goal of the match. Germany's Windfeder then scored on a penalty corner in the fourth quarter.

Despite Germany scoring four goals in the match, India's goalkeeper Sreejesh's goalkeeping was crucial to India's success. Sreejesh blocked the German attack in the last few seconds of the match and played a key role in India's victory.
