Is it really possible to buy a house for € 1? Yes, and it is a project wanted by the Municipality of Mussomeli, in Sicily.

Yes ... it is true! In Italy, thousands of foreigners have bought homes for just Rs 83. However, locals are opposed to it. The citizens are alleging that the local administration is selling their houses.

The houses are being sold on the island of Sicily in Italy. Set in the 14th century, the village has now been transformed into an urban forest.

Most of the houses here are dilapidated. This is why the people here have left the village and gone to the cities. This left the houses empty. So now the local administration is selling these houses.

Locals are opposed to selling the houses. Speaking on the occasion, the mayor of Sicily said that he is determined to increase the population of the village. That is why he has started selling house here for only Rs 83.

With houses being sold for less than Rs 100, there is competition among people to buy a house here. Thousands of foreigners have bought homes here so far.

However, after this, the mayor has to face the wrath of the people regarding his plan.

Responding to this, Mayor Leoluka said that most of the houses in the village have been demolished. The population here is steadily declining. It is our duty to make such a decision to make the village as it was before.

A local woman has alleged that the administration has not even taken permission from the villagers to sell the houses. Now there seems to be a big controversy over the administration's decision.

Sicily Island is in Italy.
