Dawood Ibrahim, India's most wanted gangster has always been a topic of discussion due to his illegal and terrorist activities. However, very few people have information about his personal life. Let us have a look at some of the lesser known facts from his life.

As per Forbes' World's Top 10 most dreaded criminals list of 2011 he was at No. 3 position. He is accused of heading a vast and sprawling illegal empire in India, Dubai and Pakistan.

He belongs to the Konkani Muslim community. He was born in Mumbke village in Khed Taluka of Ratnagiri district, Konkan region in Maharashtra on December 26, 1955. He is the son of a police head constable Ibrahim Kaskar.

Dawood's elder brother Shabir Ibrahim Kaskar was killed by Manya Surve in 1981. Dawood Ibrahim's daughter, Mahrukh Ibrahim, is married to the son of former Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad.

Dawood is said to have begun his career in Mumbai working for the Karim Lala gang exploiting the rapid expansion in Mumbai's textiles industry to his advantage.

He soon moved his residence to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates where he has business interests alongside India. Indian defence intelligence agencies believe that Dawood and his associates have huge stakes in ship-breaking industry in India and are using these operations for smuggling in arms, explosives in the country.

He became India's most wanted man after the 1993 Bombay serial blasts, which he allegedly organized and financed. Dawood's brother Anees Ibrahim is also a co-accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bombings.
