World Environment Day 2020: Positive effect of coronavirus lockdown on nature

Wildlife The lockdown has had a positive impact on the wildlife with lockdown forcing majority of the humans to stay indoors. Animals that are sually seen only on television screens, and in the jungles, seemed to be found themeselves a space in the human vicinity. Residents of Mumbai’s Khareghat Parsi Colony in Tardeo has had some surprise visitors. Around a dozen peacocks have wandered on to the streets, much to the delight of the locals watching from inside their homes.
Water - The coronavirus lockdown has led to the improve in the quality of water in Ganga and Yamuna river due to less industrial activities. Meanwhile, in Italy the water in the city's canals has become much clearer during the lockdown phase. The fishes have returned and so have the swans.
Air Quality - The series of lockdown in India has led to a large improvement in air quality in the country. Ahead of the World Environment Day on June 5, experts have outlined several environmental factors that saw improvements in India as a result of the lockdowns, namely air quality, noise pollution, water quality, and biodiversity among others due to reduced industrial and human activities.
Plants - Amid the lockdown plants are growing better due to clean air and water as there is less human intervention. With everything at a standstill, plants are allowed to thrive and grow and produce more coverage and oxygen.
