It has been raining heavily in Ratnagiri for the last two-three days and unprecedented conditions have prevailed in Khed and Chiplun. Many houses have been swept away due to heavy rains.

Normal lives have been disrupted due to floods in Chiplun area.

Heavy rains have lashed coastal districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg resulting in big and small rivers swelling above the danger levels.

Chiplun and Khed areas were inundated with12 feet water in many places. The water has not come down for the last 10 hours

Many citizens have to take shelter in nearby buildings to save their lives.

The ground floor of the building is completely submerged. Ten hours after the floods, an NDRF team has finally arrived in Chiplun.

Flood waters rushed into the shops, offices, homes and ground floor flats, many big and small vehicles were fully submerged or washed away, and people remained trapped in their homes for hours.

Many Konkan people have been swept away by the floods.

About 5,000 people are said to have been swept away by the floodwaters. In some places, water has accumulated up to the first floor of the building.

The flood situation in Chiplun has persisted for the last 10 hours and the flood waters have not receded

Chiplun's rural as well as urban areas and markets are in dire situation.
