Coronavirus: Complete lockdown in Maharashtra from April 14 to April 30?

The growing number of corona cases in Maharashtra has raised concerns of the Thackeray government. With more than 60,000 patients found in the state in a single day, the government has decided to take drastic steps to break the corona chain.

If the entire lockdown is implemented in the state, how to compensate the financial loss? The length of the lockdown was discussed at a meeting of the task force on Sunday. But everyone agreed that a lockdown was needed in the state to prevent the spread of corona.

The state is likely to face lockdown after Gudipadva. The Thackeray government is planning to impose lockdown in the state from midnight on April 14. ABP has reported that the lockdown is likely to take place from midnight on April 14 to midnight on April 30.

While the number of corona patients in the state has not decreased during this period, the government will also focus on extending the lockdown period by a few more days. Other than essential services, other things will have to be shut down during this lockdown.

If the state government does not impose lockdown, the situation may get worse and it is likely that the covid cases in the state will reach 11 lakh by the end of April. Therefore, strict restrictions will be imposed by the government during the lockdown.

Expert doctors of the task force told Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray that there is no alternative but lockdown to stem the new wave of corona, without which the number of cases is difficult to control.

After discussions with the experts in the task force, the movement at the administrative level has gained momentum and work has started to frame standard operating system (SOP).Task Force members recommend a 14-day to three-week lockdown to break the chain of transmission.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope has informed that the decision on lockdown will be taken in the cabinet meeting after April 14. After a two-hour meeting with task force experts on Sunday, Chief Minister Thackeray held separate discussions with the Chief Secretary.

As many as 4 lakh new patients have been found in the state between April 4 and 10. The current mortality rate is 0.5 per cent and is on the rise.
