International day for the Abolition of Slavery, 2 December, the main focus on this day is on eradicating contemporary forms of slavery, such as trafficking in persons, sexual exploitation, the worst forms of child labour, forced marriage, and the forced recruitment of children for use in armed conflict. 12 Years a slave

12 Years a Slave is a 2013 biographical period-drama film directed by Steve McQueen. The movie is based on the 1853 slave memoir Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free African-American man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. by two conmen in 1841 and sold into slavery.
