Fact Check: Central Government to provide Rs 4 lakh loan to women for business? Its Fake

A viral post is doing rounds on social media platforms claiming that all women across the country will be given a business loan up to Rs 4 lakh.

The misleading post also claims that the government has announced the scheme and is offering the business loans to all women under the Vaibhav Laxmi Yojana.

Dismissing the fake claims, a fact-check by Press Information Bureau (PIB) categorically denied the existence of any such scheme.

It stated that the Central Government has not launched any such scheme and mentioned that the post is fake.

This claim is fake No such scheme is being run by the central government', the PIB tweeted.

Such fake news is spread on social media not only in the COVID-19 crisis but also when the situation is bad. In such a situation, the information received from social media should be verified and only then trusted.

A similar fake news went viral on social media in June 2020, saying that under the Prime Minister's Dhan Lakshmi Yojana, women are getting loans of up to Rs 5 lakh at zero per cent interest. This message is also incorrect.

The PIB has said that the central government has no such plan. PIB is the main body informing newspapers and electronic media about the policies, programs and activities of the Government of India.

In this WhatsApp message, it was said that the Prime Minister's Dhan Lakshmi Yojana has been started keeping in mind the women of the country who want to become self-reliant by starting their own business, self-employment. Such women will be given loans up to Rs 5 lakh.
