Indian Railways changed many rules after corona pandemic,see full report

Corona was like a nightmare for people all over the world, it affected many citizens in all possible ways, the Railways which never stopped in any condition was struck due to corona. But now everything is re-opening and getting back to normal but there are some changes that have been made in Railways.

The corona crisis led to a nationwide lockdown from March 2020. After this, the train service was also disrupted. It was reopened several months later. It is learned that after this, the railways recovered the entire fare from the senior citizen passengers.

The relevant information has been provided by the Railways in the information sought under the Right to Information Act.

According to the information provided by the Railways, between March 22, 2020, and September 2021, about 3 crores 78 lakh 50 thousand 668 senior citizen passengers traveled. During this period, the service was closed for several months due to lockdown, the railways said.

However, during this period, the railways recovered the entire fare from the senior citizen passengers. In fact, Indian Railways offers discounted tickets to senior citizen passengers. Women passengers aged 58 and men aged 60 get discounts on train tickets.

It is learned that Indian Railways has not given any concession to any passenger during this period. According to PTI, discounts on tickets offered by the railways have been discussed several times in the last two years.

Several committees have recommended to the Railway Ministry that the Railways should withdraw the concessions on tickets. On the other hand, in July 2016, the discount on tickets was made optional.

While presenting the budget for the current financial year, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the sale of shares in various companies. Through this, the Modi government at the center aims to disinvest Rs 1.75 crore in the current financial year

The Modi government is ready to privatize Indian Railways. The government intends to raise about Rs 30,000 crore from this. Mumbai-2, Delhi-1, and Delhi-2 clusters were bidding Rs 7,200 crore for running private trains.
