The BJP, which is in power at the Center, had used all its strength to win in West Bengal. Bengal witnessed a fierce contest between the ruling TMC and BJP across eight phases, where the leaders of the two parties took digs at each other during the campaign. The latest trends show that TMC has already registered a victory on 36 seats in West Bengal while it is leading on 177 more.

Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted congratulations to Mamata.
'I congratulate you on the astonishing victory of the Trinamool Congress. We will continue to work together for the welfare of the people in the future. Let's face the corona crisis together ', tweeted Sharad Pawar.
The BJP had used all its strength for this election. Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also campaigning vigorously in West Bengal. But this does not seem to have worked.
