The country's largest telecom company Reliance Jio added 6.49 lakh new mobile subscribers in August.

Whereas, Bharti Airtel was followed, adding 1.38 lakh new connections.

This information has been received from the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Wednesday.

Vodafone Idea lost 8.33 lakh subscribers in August, though losses were lower as compared to July.

Jio continued to beat its rivals in the race to add 6.49 lakh, wireless users, in August. With this, its mobile subscriber base increased to 44.38 crores.

Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel added 1.38 lakh subscribers during the month, taking its total wireless connections to 35.41 crores.

Vodafone Idea lost 8.33 lakh mobile connections in August, bringing down its wireless subscriber base to 271 million, according to TRAI data.

Compared to the July figures, the beleaguered company has reduced the losses of its customers to an extent. It lost 14.3 lakh subscribers in July.
